How-to Make a Log Clamp

August 31, 2020 /Posted byMitch Dillman / 7384 / 1

Make a Log Clamp

When you make log furniture with a chainsaw you work with logs. When you work with logs you need them to hold still. This log clamp is the perfect tool for holding small logs firmly in place while being worked for a variety of applications, including building log furniture and log hand-railings.

Some of the most ingenious tools you will ever find are made by hand “purpose specific”. Like this Log Clamp, designed by Scott Schafer of San Juan Carpentry, made specifically for peeling small diameter logs used on our full-line of bar-seating and log armchairs.

Log furniture can be made from logs of all shapes and all sizes. Sometimes you will need small diameter logs to complete your log furniture and it’s those little limbs and branches that can become a real challenge to work with.  That’s when you need a clamp …

Clamp: A fastening device used to hold or secure objects tightly together to prevent movement or separation through the application of inward pressure. … There are many types of clamps available for many different purposes.
