What’s the difference between a lounge chair and a dining chair? … let’s just say, it’s all a matter of your angle!
You can easily dine in a lounge chair; it’s just not as easy to lounge in a dining chair.
Lounge Chair Vs. Dining Chair
When I started making log furniture, the first thing I wanted to build was a Log Rocking Chair. Before I could do that I needed to establish the basic frame-set and angles comfortable for relaxing in an upright and seated position. So, I started with a “relaxed” log park bench design, which as it turns out, also works great as a lounge chair.
The only difference in my log park bench and log lounge chair is a simple matter of how long you cut your log.
Lounge Chair: noun – a chair designed for lounging, as an easy chair, chaise lounge, or recliner.
Log Dining Chairs
Log dining chairs are entirely different from log lounge chairs. Sure, they both have four legs and four feet, a back and a seat, but that’s about all they share in common. A dining chair is much more compact and upright than a lounger. A good dining chair sits you up straight, just right for eating at a dinner table.
Dining Chair: noun – an upright seat designed to be used during mealtimes, at a dining table.

So there you have it. As you can see, the big difference between a lounge chair and a dining chair is all in how you sit.
