What Are Log Dogs?
Log Dogs are a device for holding a log in place while it is being worked on. They are typically made from metal and can either be driven into the wood by hand or by some type of a mechanical clamping device, either hydraulic or pneumatically activated. This article is focused on how-to make the hand-driven variety.
So you want to smell like a real lumber-jack and make rustic log furniture from trees you found right there in your own back yard…well that’s great news, you’ve come to the right place! Before we get started, one of the first things you’ll need is at least two pair of Log Dogs…now let me tell you why!
Why Two Pair?
Log Dogs work together in pairs. One pair of them will only secure one end of your log. You will need two pair of Log Dogs to properly secure any log.

You Need Two Pair!

- Trailering/Moving logs
- Prepping/Peeling logs
- Carving/Cutting logs
- Temporarily Stacking/Storing logs
