Growing up here on the Westside of Colorado Springs, some of my earliest memories include the old FH Staggs Lumber Mill and our local, neighborhood hardware store. That little family owned hardware store was located just a couple blocks down the street from the old lumber mill, right in the heart of Old Colorado City. And of course, there was always that inspirational view of Pikes Peak.
Those memories and that view never seem to fade.
Now apparently, when some of your fondest childhood memories include a lumber yard, a hardware store, and a 14,000 foot mountain, you are destined to spend a large part of your life working with your hands, wood, and tools, right here on the Westside of Colorado Springs.
And why not? Who wouldn’t want to work in the shadows of America’s Mountain, creating all sorts of cool stuff, using only their hands, locally harvested timber, some tools, and an active imagination?
Every journey begins with the first step…
For me, that first step came back in 2009 when my home construction business came to a screeching halt. I needed to find something new to do with my tools, my know-how, and all that extra time I suddenly had on my hands.
It was then that a company established and owned by a family trust, Colorado Rock-n-Logs, Inc became the vehicle and the enthusiastic encouragement and support of friends and former colleagues and a growing number of on-line sponsors have allowed me to design and build a unique collection of ‘modern-rustic’, log on steel furniture.

Hard Work and YouTube make things happen!
The concept was easy. Do what you can with what you have. Make log furniture and use YouTube to show the world how we do it.
Next, Rock*N-Logs© decided to develop Do-It-Yourself furniture kits, welded and un-welded, as well as unique, easy-to-follow, Video Blueprints. And we did all of this while working out of a 360 square foot storage unit and our next door neighbors empty lot.
One step at a time leads to…my eviction notice!
Okay, so my landlord did not really evict us. We just came to a mutual understanding. Storage units are made to store things, not make them. And as with any new business, if you want to succeed, you must have room to grow.
So that is exactly what we at Rock*N-Logs© did. We went out and found a new place to set up shop. A place with room to grow. Somewhere close, right here on the Westside of Colorado Springs, where we could still see our favorite mountain, Pikes Peak.

Our New, Old Shop…2700 Robinson Street, Old Colorado City.
Funny thing about making ‘modern-rustic’, log on steel furniture, not only do you need a lot of space to store and work on the logs, you need a place to cut, fabricate and finish the metal components.
And not only do you need a metalshop to weld all the steel parts, you need a way to mill the logs, and lots of other equipment to get it all done.
FH Staggs Lumber Mills again…
Finding all of this in one great location is a tall order, especially here on the Westside of Colorado Springs. But there is still a place where all of this can happen. The FH Staggs Lumber Mills again.

The sky is no limit!
Colorado Rock*N Logs© creates and hand-makes its one-of-a-kind log furniture at the foot of Pikes Peak. Our philosophy is simple. We believe in doing what we can with what we have! We now harvest and hand-craft burnt logs from the recent Waldo Canyon Burn Area.
Our goal: create beautiful, ‘modern-rustic’, log on steel furniture, log home decor, and one-of-a-kind fixtures, utilizing otherwise wasted or discarded materials. From disaster to Design, this is our motto.
